Hair Texture Guide: Straight, Wavy and Curly Hair Explained

Sep 19, 2026 MG Hair Team Hair Guides

Texture is the first thing most buyers look for. It decides how your hair falls, how much volume it has and how you can style it. At MG Hair India, we offer a wide range of textures. Here is a simple way to understand them.

Straight textures

Straight hair is smooth and sleek, with little or no wave. It is a classic choice and suits both casual and formal looks.

  • Natural Straight / Silky Straight: smooth, shiny and soft.
  • Bone Straight: a very sleek, flat and straight finish.
  • Kinky Straight and Yaki Straight: a slightly coarser feel, similar to blown-out or pressed natural hair, so they blend well with textured hair.

Wavy textures

Wavy hair adds movement and volume without being too curly.

  • Body Wave: soft, loose S-shaped waves.
  • Loose Wave and Natural Wave: relaxed, easy waves.
  • Deep Wave, Water Wave and Ocean Wave: more defined, rippled waves.
  • Bouncy Wave: waves with extra bounce and fullness.

Curly textures

Curly hair gives you the most volume and a bold look.

  • Loose Curly and Natural Curly: soft, open curls.
  • Curly, Deep Curly and Raw Curly: defined curls with more volume.
  • Tight Curly, Pixie Curly and Kinky Curly: small, tight curls and coils.
  • Fumi Curly: softer at the top and bouncy at the ends.

How to choose your texture

  • Match your own hair: if you are wearing the extensions with your own hair, choose a texture close to yours so the two blend easily.
  • Think about maintenance: straight hair is easy to manage. Curly and wavy hair need a little more care to keep their pattern.
  • Think about styling: raw and virgin hair can be heat-styled, but the pattern can change with washing and styling, so always check how the hair behaves.
  • Check real photos: a texture name can look slightly different from one supplier to another, so look at the product photo before you buy.

Every texture is available in different lengths, from 8" to 30", and in many colours. Explore our hair extensions and pick the texture that suits you best.
